Interested in joining a new monthly online book group,
featuring translated fiction from around the world?

In an effort to alleviate "the shameful ... lack of energy put into translation in the American market" (Jhumpa Lahiri) and to raise our awareness of excellent fiction from around the world, the Odyssey Bookshop is starting a new translated fiction book group. Members will be sent one book per month and will be able to discuss these works here on the Odyssey Bookshop website with other members. We will have Q&As with translators and authors when available. Ultimately, our goal as a group is to discover the often neglected, ever-growing body of translated literature from around the world and to broaden our perspectives of the cultures they represent.

This is a new group started by First Editions Club coordinator Ryan Mihaly, an expert an enthusiast of translated fiction. The group is also in conjunction with the Odyssey Bookshop's new Read the World section, featuring new works in translated fiction.
